Considering Maternity Photos? Read This!
Congrats! You are pregnant, now what?!
So many fast changing moments, so much excitement mixed with possibly some nausea, hormones, and a wide variety of possibilities. Sounds super fun right? Well, whether you have been trying to conceive for years, or whether this pregnancy was a complete surprise, hopefully in roughly nine months you will bring life into the world, which is a pretty amazing thing!
So, what moments should you document? The short answer- all of them. I know, I know... it's my job to document the moments, so of course I'm a huge advocate, but in all seriousness- my maternity photos are my kids favorites! They look back on them and while I felt huge and not cute at all- they are incredibly amused at how a human life, their human life grew inside of that big ole belly in the photos they look back on. :) Their smiles and laughter looking at those moments remind me of all the sweet times during my pregnancies'.
Regardless, maternity photos are important.
Even though pregnancy comes with a lot of difficult trials, it is an amazing time in your life. It is a time of celebration and, of anticipation to as you prepare to meet your little bundle of joy. It’s a time where you become strong – stronger than you ever thought you could possibly be. During this time, you create your initial bond with your child that will continue throughout your entire lives.
There are very few women who actually feel like they are beautiful while they are pregnant – especially during the first pregnancy.; However, the miracle of pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Swollen feet, stretch marks, and hormone changes aside – you are growing a real life human being inside of you. All of those side effects come from different things your body has to do to help nourish and protect your baby.
You are beautiful, and you should take the time to celebrate these changes and this amazing moment in your life. These photos will be a great gift to pass down to your child as an heirloom of your first memories with them. This is something they can treasure forever.
When should you book your maternity session?
I suggest contacting me as soon as you know your due date. We can then decide on a time that is best for your photos. I like to schedule your maternity session around the time when you are 7-8 months along. This way, you are far enough along to show off your baby bump, but not to the point where you are going to be miserable in your photos.
As you go along your pregnancy, things may change with your due date, or you may start showing sooner and want to do them earlier. Just contact me and we can discuss a new date if needed.
If you’d like to add on a gender reveal session, I typically do those photos shortly after your 16 to -20 week ultrasound when the baby’s gender is discovered!
Take a look at some of my favorites from maternity sessions, and let me know when you are ready to book yours!
